BIOGRAPHY
Born and raised in Manila, Philippines, Ines Blesilda Jacinto considers
herself fortunate to have been educated by the Dominican nuns (Dominican
College)  from kindergarten through high school and by the Jesuits (Ateneo de
Manila University) from college through graduate school, the former instilling
discipline and perseverance ---- as she likes to say ---- and the latter, teaching
her about love and service while upholding freedom.

She grew up drawing and writing poems, stories and plays, winning the top
prize at a high school art competition with her first oil painting and then winning
in a national playwriting competition at 16.   She focused on writing through
completion of her BA Communication Arts and MA Literature degrees and
painted occasionally even as a US immigrant in the early 80's.

Inspired by new sceneries and experiences,   Bessie's passion for world travel
and photography grew, which in turn reawakened the desire to express herself
in painting even as her prize-winning short stories got published in the '90's.
Then by the end of 1999, her husband, Cesar Fabros, urged her to join the
local art association (Simi Valley Art Association) and a national women's
artistic group that had a local chapter (the National League of American  PEN
Women) .   The ensuing fellowship with other artists and writers inspired her to
focus on painting and within a year, she held her first solo art exhibit at
Border's Bookstore - Canoga Park, California.
Bessie went on to stage other solo art exhibits and participate
in local and national juried shows, painting mostly landscapes
in pastel, oil and watercolor media.    She regularly attends art
workshops, visits museums and travels extensively for  creative
growth.

Working full-time as an information technology professional,
Bessie also supports local art groups in raising art awareness
and appreciation in the community while building fellowship
among artists of all levels.

Among those who have inspired and influenced her artistic
pursuits is her mother, Cecilia Lat -Jacinto, a talented musician
and piano teacher who has exemplified artistic integrity and
courage.
